Ensemble Linea: Concert at the Warhol

The creative use of technology in the arts and its use globally – where physical models and algorithms are often used to reflect structures and processes found in the natural world - is an area rich with meaning and connections far beyond music. How are artists based outside of the United States using technology and how does this represent a particular world-view? How does music that uses advanced technology enhance our understanding of the physical world? These are some of the avenues of inquiry that the Ensemble Linea Residency will address.

Arguably the best contemporary music ensemble in France today, Ensemble Linea, a seven-member performance ensemble, will be in residence at the University of Pittsburgh from March 31 through April 5, 2016. This concert will feature a concert of contemporary French music presented by Music on the Edge. Several of the works being performed use advanced signal processing and sound specialization techniques, some of which were developed at the IRCAM Center in Paris.

This event is also sponsored by the Franz Lehar Endowment and the Amphion Foundation. For more information on the residency, click here or contact Mathew Rosenblum at rosenblu@pitt.edu.
