25th Annual Medical Ethics Update: Ethical Issues in Reproductive Health

A conference on the ethics of reproductive health sponsored by the Center for Bioethics and Health Law. The conference will feature presentations from Lisa Tetrault, associate professor of history at CMU, and Sonya Borrero, associate professor of medicine and director of the Center for Women's Health Research and Innovation at Pitt.

Other presentations during the day will address the changing landscape of prenatal diagnosis; ethics related to reproduction at advanced maternal age; achieving equity in birth outcomes; reproductive control in the intellectually disabled and seriously mentally ill; coerced communication between doctors and patients; ethical and social concerns related to fertility preservation with oocyte cryopreservation; what to do when an obstetrics patient refuses treatment; and mitochondrial DNA transfer.
