Boxes and Walls (Interactive Exhibit)

Boxes and Walls personalizes oppression and the importance of activism by "bringing it home" for the individual. Participants are led by a tour guide through a series of "rooms." Each room is designed to focus on historically oppressed groups, cultures, or social justice concerns named by students. During the tour participants are placed into scenarios and participate in activities that reflect the daily life of oppressed populations. The Boxes & Walls experience provides a glimpse of what being part of each group might be like, both historically and in the present day.

This event is also sponsored by the Office of Residence Life. For more information, click here or contact Steve Anderson at stevea@pitt.edu.
